One of the original motivations in setting up i Capital, a weekly investment publication, in 1988 was to educate and help the public invest smartly. Since starting in 1988 as the first independent investment adviser, i Capital has become highly respected for its accurate and objective analysis of the KLSE and the Malaysian economy. Its comprehensive and high quality analysis and investment advice also extend to the major stock markets like the NYSE, NASDAQ etc and the major economies like USA, Japan, China etc. It is the only Malaysian investment set-up that analyses and advises on such a comprehensive basis and free from conflicts of interest.
At i Capital, it has always recognized that it is not sufficient to catch the fishes for our investors. It needs to also teach them how to fish, so that they will also be able to critically look at all analysis and decide what is best for them. Therefore, as early as 1990 it has been organizing seminars and talks on an ad hoc basis.
On 12 February 2004, i Capital launched Malaysia's first integrated investment education programme, called icapital education. icapital education is a crystalisation of the years of experiences of i Capital as an independent investment adviser. With icapital education we hope to organize educational programmes on a more systematic, integrated and comprehensive basis.
According to our Managing Director, many investors and businessmen could have avoided devastating losses if they had been educated and equipped with the right tools and principles. Since inception, i Capital has seen too many unnecessary sufferings and losses and wants to help improve the situation for the benefit of every party.
icapital education aims to educate the public on the whys, the whats, the whens and the hows of managing their investment and business. At the end, the objective is to create more discerning and quality investors and traders on the KLSE and help to make the KLSE a more efficient and world class stock exchange.
